Layne Johnston '15 Recruiting Profile

I am a student-athlete and I am very good at excelling in both academics and athletics. I am able to effectively balance an active lifestyle in sports and volunteer work while remaining dedicated to academics, family, and friends. My natural competitive nature pushes me to challenge myself in all areas of my life and has allowed me to grow into who I am today. I am a leader through example rather than through meaningless words and I am honored to say that my team and peers think highly of me due to my integrity and honesty on and off the field/court. My maturity is well developed, and frequently exercised, and my maturity and integrity has gained me the respect of both my peers and my teachers. My team knows that they can depend on me for anything and everything, whether it is academic, athletic, or personal in nature, and they understand that I make sacrifices in my life for their benefit. I dedicate myself to everything and everyone in my life and I have learned through experience that dedication and determination are some of the essential characteristics of the student-athlete that I am today. I plan to continue challenging myself in all the tasks that I have ahead of me...in college and beyond.
