Personal Statement

Soccer has influenced my life in so many great ways.  For one, it has implimented my work ethic and hardworking mindset.  In addition, it has taught me how to be a teamate and work with others to reach a goal.  I have played soccer since I was four years old. I have always loved it, and I continue loving it more as the competitive level increases.  Through all these years of playing this sport, I've discovered my focus and drive to always want to get to my highest potential. I impliment this attitude into my academic studies as well as other aspects of life.  I take both my academics and athletics very seriously.  My academic goals for high school are to continue excelling in each of my classes and getting as much knowledge as I can while I'm there.  My academic goal for college is to find a career path I love and excell at it.  In order to get where I am today, I have had to conquer some challenging obstacles.  One of which was when I fractured my L5 vertebrae about 2 years ago.  When I heard this news I couldn't believe that I would have to be out from soccer for so long.  However, this time I had off the ball I spent studying the game.  I read books on nutrition, soccer tactics, and the mental part of the game.  I also watched soccer games several times a week and took notes to analyze each game.  In addition, because previous studies have shown visualizing yourself training is effective, I visualized myself training for 20 minutes everyday.  While all this was going on, my dad was battling cancer.  In times of doubt, I would look to him and keep going just as he was.  Unfortunately, he passed away later that year. Without having fractured my back not only would I not have become the soccer player I am today, but I also wouldn't have gotten to spend all that time at home with my dad.  Though this was an obstacle, it was also a great blessing in disguise.  I am very kind and compassionate as well as hardworking and driven.  If not anything else you can always garantee that I will always put in an 110% effort whether I like what I'm doing or not.  I would like to find a college that fits me and my athletic and academic situations.  I would like to be in a program in which I can both contribute to it, and it to me.  Thank you for reading.
