Jamison Kidd '13 Recruiting Profile

When I first started playing soccer you could say that I was somewhat of the "underdog". All the other girls that I played with had been playing soccer since they were five years old and I was just getting started at the age of thirteen. It was a whole new experience for me, but it was something that I've always wanted to do so I knew that I had to work twice as hard to get at the level of play that my teammates were at. When someone tells me that I can't do something, it's always been my automatic instinct to prove them and everyone else wrong. At practice I would work hard and take the criticism of my coaches, even if I didn't always like what they had to say. I grew not only as an athlete but as a person too. I've always been hard-headed so naturally I was always bossy growing up, but now that I'm older my assertiveness has transgressed into being a leader which lead my coach to direct me as the, "voice of the defense". It was my job to make sure that the other girls knew what they were doing and where they needed to be at all times. It was quite the honor to be given this title because I was an amateur to my teammates, but I had earned my spot. Anything that has ever been thrown at me, I have always given it my best effort no matter what. Coming from a small town, our schools and athletics really don't get noticed very often but over the past three years both our boys and girls soccer teams have really progressed and made a name for our school. It's always been my goal since freshman year to make a name for not only my school but for myself as well. It wasn't until my sophomore year that my name was really put out there when I was named to the all-region team, and after that I was determined to further my achievements. This past year, my junior year, I was again named to not only all-region but I was also named to the 2A all-state team where I was the only defender chosen and I was the second player selected. Since I was named all-state, I knew that there was a bright future ahead of me if I put in the effort. Coming from a small town, not many people get noticed very often, but I want to be one of the few who do get noticed. Coming out of my senior year I want to further my soccer career by hopefully recieving a scholarship to play college soccer for a D1 or D2 school. I want to be the girl that everyone remembers for going above and beyond to prove everyone wrong.
