Serena Melendrez '14 Recruiting Profile

I am a good candidate for your team because I absolutely love the game of soccer, and I have been playing since I was four years old. My positions on the field that i am most most experienced at includes; outside defense, center defense, and wing. I will graduate with the class of 2014 in May at Las Cruces High School. My height is 4'11" and my weight is 105 pounds. This past fall I started on varsity for my high school team under Coach Mario Noel Castillo for the 3-5AAAAA district, who can be contacted at 5759930587. Now, I am playing for a new club team called CFC Lady Fire, coached by Ryan Hefley, who can be contacted at 5753126371.  I started competitive soccer when I was in third grade and have attended several tournaments like the college showcase tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada. For high school, I played jv and varsity for my freshman and sophomore year. The following years I was a starter for the varsity team my junior and senior year. During my high school season, we were district champs twice, won the Academy tournament once, and won the Las Cruces Public School tournament twice. This year i was chosen as a first team all-district player for defense and I was chosen as the MVP for our game against Los Alamos in the Academy tournament. I currently hold about a 3.9 GPA and I received composite score of 23 on my ACT test. At school, I am captain of the Las Cruces High School Performing Dance, Vice-President of French Honor Society, a member of National Honor Society, a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and a volunteer as a catechist teacher at the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church. A future goal of mine is to play college ball at an out of state college, while working towards my degree in education. My determination to be and to do my best in everything i make myself a part of is what makes me different from other recruits.
