Personal Statement

I have been playing soccer since I was 4 and have been fortunate enough to play many different aspects of soccer, from recreational, club, travel, school, indoor/outdoor camps, boys scrimmages , and I also volunteered at a summer camp from 2007-2009, teaching children from the ages of 6-12 the game and skills. I am 5'2" 135lbs and run approximately 6-7 mpm. I am open and comfortable playing just about any position. The strongest positions I play is LM, LD, because I am primarily left footed. I have the advantage of playing the entire field because my coach expects it from me; he knows I can run fast enough to get back to my position even if I am on the other side of the field. My throw- ins are always on point. Soccer isn't just a game/sport to me, its life; the field is like a huge oxygen machine to me. I live for the game. One of my goals in life is to play pro ball some day. I would love the opportunity to play in Europe, US, and any other country that is available to me. I am in search of a college that will bring me to that level. I need a college that takes the sport seriously. Size really doesn't matter; I just would prefer to be in a college where I'm not just a number. I like the city life, but small towns can also be nice at times. I was raised by a single mom who has taught me everything I know in life, she has taught me strength, dedication, courage, independence, loyalty, respect, faith, and so many other good qualities that I bring onto the field with every game I play and for that I am grateful to her. There are so many things I'm grateful to my mother for. She supports me in everything thing I do in life. She doesn't push me into things she feels I should do. My mom has spent her entire savings and loans just to give me the advantage of playing soccer all year long and sent me to private school throughout my High School years because she wanted me to have the best education and the deal breaker for UCHS was the soccer program. I truly don't know how college is going to fit in financially; I can only hope that my soccer skills will help me with getting to my next level of education. I am not opposed to going away to college; however it would be nice to be close to home being it's just me and my mom. We are the only ones for each other. Should a college recruit me that may not be home, I know she/I will be ok, as I said before my mom supports everything I do in life. As for a particular type of school or major that is one of those things, I haven't really worried about. I believe every school can provide a GREAT education; it's what the student makes of it. As for the level of soccer, that's the coaches decision, they are the experts. I just want to play for a serious school who wants to be winners. The college I would prefer to attend is one that offers work study so I can help my mom with the cost of my education. I enjoy volunteering and community service, therefore it's important that the colleges offer this. Studying abroad is of interest to me also. Because of my dedication to school and the community I am now a National Youth Leadership Scholar, currently a nominee for Congressional Youth Leadership Council.
