Erica Parlavecchio '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Erica Parlavecchio. I am 5'8", 155 lbs. I have been a three year varsity starter at Hanover Park High School. Last year I received all-county honorable mention and this year I was awarded second team all-conference. My strength on the soccer field is to mark the best forward and to make sure she does not score. For my high school, I play one of the two inside midfield controlling positions. I use my size to good advantage and am able to kick well with either my right or left foot. My speciality is heading the ball on free kicks and corner kicks. This year for high school I had two header game-winning goals and two assists. I am currently working on increasing explosiveness through speed training with Velocity. I feel I am a leader both on and off the field and hope to make captain next year. I also play defense for my JAGS and Super-Y travel teams. This past spring my JAGS team won the New Jersey State Cup. Again, marking is my specialty as well as heading the ball on set plays. This past summer, I had the honor and privilege of training with soccer legends Mia Hamm and Kimberly Pickup at the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy. This was an experience of a lifetime and it was an awesome week of soccer. One of my most memorable experiences of the week was our community service project of helping the Special Olympic athletes learn to play soccer. This was such a rewarding experience for me. I am not sure what type of school I am looking for just yet; however, I plan to major in criminal justice and psychology. My goal is to be able to play college soccer. I know that I will be motivated to play my personal best in every game. I will give my team 100%.
