My name is Ashley Mathis. I have always been told that I am a hard worker and can be expected to always give 110% effort. The year I knew for a fact that I wanted to play soccer at a higher level like college was my freshman year of high school soccer. I had made JV and did not even start the JV games, but as I got to start playing my coaches started to realize that I had more to offer than what I was being given credit for. They saw my hard work and determination to move up and help my teammates. A few weeks into the season I got the opportunity to dress out for varsity games and soon after I got to start playing varsity. It was such an honor in my eyes to know that the coaches saw something in me that they did not see in the other players apart of the program. I did not take anything for granted during those minutes I got to play on varsity.
I have been playing soccer since I was just a little girl. I have grown up around it my whole life and frankly would not know what to do with myself if it was not apart of my life. My love for the game is indescribable. There is never a time when I get tired of being on that field and working my hardest and giving my all. As a player and person I look at myself as a kind and respectful person to all my peers; I rarely ever have any enemies.I tend to take on a leadership role when on the field because I feel as if you can not have a good team if you do not have any sort of leadership and bond between teammates. I love to win and I would do anything for any sort of team I am on to achieve that goal of winning. I can not wait for the opportunities that await me in my soccer career and set forth to accomplish the goals I have for myself.
