Hi, my name is Maggie Wick. I live in in Eyota, a small town in southeastern Minnesota. I am a three sport athlete: soccer, hockey, and track, with soccer being the sport that I would like to pursue in college. I am entering my senior year of high school and will spend my last high school soccer season working towards our team's goal of defending our conference and section titles and returning to the state tournament. My goal this upcoming season is to demonstrate a leadership role for our school's soccer team in hopes of building on our success last year with a large number of younger players being added to our roster. This summer I had the opportunity to serve as captain for our U19 club team, Rochester Thunder. During this season the team lost 4 players to serious injury with our top scorer and defender being lost for the season during our first tournament of the year. I am hopeful that the lessons learned as captain of a team which has to overcome a number of hardships during the course of the season will make me a better leader for our high school team.
Academics and soccer are the focal points for me at this time of my life. I believe that I have been successful in obtaining the habits of hard work and perseverance to be successful in both areas. During my sophomore year I was selected to become part of our school’s National Honor Society and at the conclusion of my junior year I have achieved a 3.86 GPA. I believe that my success in in both the classroom and the pitch is a direct result of hard work rather than just natural talent, and I intend to continue to work hard as I further develop in both venues. I currently plan on majoring in biology with the intention of going into pre-med and I am very excited to see what my academic future holds in store.
