Personal Statement

Hey! I'm Bree Ver Hoeven, and I'm going into my senior year at Shelby High School. I'm a little one, weighing about 105 lbs,  and I'm being barely 5'4. but dont let the looks fool you, I'm always up to a soccer challenge. This past season in soccer was my best yet. With 25 goals and 11 assists, I'm determined to beat my stats of this year next year. My coach didnt choose me as a captian but i was looked upon as an "unoffical captain" by my team no doubt. The motto that I set for myself this season was "This is only 90 minutes of you life bree, give it your all". Most recruiters will hear players say that soccer is their life, whether it is or not. I think about this statement and i ask myself if it applie to me; it most definatly does. In the off season soccer it's all I'm excited about. During the season, I don't want it to end. Soccer is most definatly the biggest aspect of my life. my teammates have suggested me play in college recently and the thought of being chosen to play in college has triggered me to think about it more and more seriously. Being recruited would be amazing. It would give me confidence in knowing that working hard really does pay off. When it comes to paying for college, I get really nervous just thinking about it. I need as many scholarships as i can get, and knowing my grade point and ACT scores are not strong, soccer will really help me. I'm looking for a bigger school, maybe a d1 or d2 but I'm just not sure yet. Any college with a good program for me and good financial aid will be greatly looked into. I'm not fully decided, but as of now want to double major in history and english and then minor in psychology. I love soccer and ending it this coming season, is something that i dont want to do.
