Hello, my name is Sydney Zablocki. I attended L'Anse Creuse High School - North, in Macomb, Michigan with the graduating class of 2015. I've been playing soccer my whole life, and have had many successes but also some disappointing upsets. From my club/travel team (Detroit Waza East 98' Juniors, out of Rochester, Michigan), some of our accomplishments consist of:
*Being voted head captain from 2010-2015
*2011 State Cup Finalist
*2012 Disney Classic Showcase Finalist
*2013 MRL Premier Champion
*2013 State Cup Finalist
*2014 State Cup Champion
*2014 MRL Premier Finalist
*2013/2014 3rd place in Nation League
and much more. I did not play soccer my Freshman or Sophomore year of high school because I was still training with my club team. My Junior year however, I was the starting goalkeeper for my school. Some of our/my accomplishments consist of:
*Setting a school record for least goals scored in a season
*Setting a record for goals against average with a .62 average
*Being selected as captain by coaches and teammates
My biggest dream is to be able to play college soccer and I am open to consider any level of play and any school. I know playing at the college level takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but it also takes passion and I believe I have what it takes to compete at that high of a level. I devote most of my time to soccer, if it's at practice with the team, going out to the field on my own and getting some touches on the ball, going to the gym, or keeping up my cardio by running. I can easily say soccer is one of the most important aspects in my life. I am an explosive goalkeeper, that makes quick, intelligent decisions. Even though I am only 5'1, I've heard how to adapt to this disadvantage by becoming faster, stronger and smarter. I've learned I have to work 10 times harder and longer than other goalkeepers, but that is something I am willing to do and have learned to love because just being good isn't good enough, I want to be great. I go to the gym to lift weights, jump rope, run, and do anything I can to increase my vertical, become a better player, and be one step ahead of my competition. I believe good things happen to people who work, not to those who wish. Being able to have the chance to play college soccer would be amazing opportunity for me! I am not only looking for a college with a good soccer program, but I am also looking for a college with a good educational program. My long term goals as of right now, is to play college soccer, attend a good academic college, and to use everything I learn in college to create a bright and successful future. I am a young, intelligent, talented person, who has a passion for soccer, and strives for perfection. To be able to use my talent and love for soccer to help me attend the college of my dreams is what I am determined to do.
Some final thoughts: I know I am a short goalkeeper, but I have had multiple club, high school, and even college coaches tell me I can play college ball. All I need is a coach to take a chance with me and having a short keeper; I will work harder than any other player because that’s what I have been doing my whole life to keep up with my competition, and I will not disappoint because I do not work or settle to be second.
Thank you, Sydney Zablocki
