On the field, I am a leader, stepping up to help my team succeed by organizing the field, communicating often and making the saves I should make. Off the field, I am a loyal friend and sister whom people can depend on and a respectful student and team member. In college, I would like to be a student-athlete who can continue in those same ways, helping others to be the very best they can be and being part of a team where hard work turns into success on and off the field. After I graduate, I want to be a teacher that inspires youth to want to make a difference in the community and in the world, to encourage them when times are tough and to show them that through hard work they can accomplish their dreams.
At 6' tall, most people assume I play volleyball and basketball, which I do, but I always proudly declare that I am a goalkeeper. A tall keeper has its advantages but it came with it's disadvantages, too. As a young athelete I had to grow into my body and improve my coordination skills. Now I feel like my footwork is better than many field players and I think that being a multi-sport athlete has helped me in that regard, in addition to speed and agility training. Now I am a confident and quick goalkeeper, a leader on and off the field and I am so excited for what the future holds.
In the classroom, it's no different. I study hard, stay up late if I need to, especially in season, but I do what I need to do to maintain my 4.0 GPA. Above anything else, I know my grades and my hard work will help me to accomplish my collegiate goals.
My goal for college soccer is to have an average number of goals allowed that is less than one goal per game. I want my team to not work as eleven individuals, but to work as one team. When I play soccer in college, I want my teammates to be friends on and off the field and to accept each other's differences. I am a good candidate because I know how to lead and unite people, I am intelligent, and I believe in doing everything with grace and humility.
