Personal Statement

What makes me different than the next player you may be looking at for your team? I think you would really have to spend time with me on a field for me to prove that to you. Any player can use words to persuade a coach, especially if they're good writers. However, you can't fake true passion for the game. I believe that becomes part of you and you carry that with you to every practice and every game. I want to be part of a college team, not because I don't want student loans, but because I've been in love with the game of soccer for as long as I can remember. I love great competition and I love the high of scoring. I play it, I watch it, I read about it and I wear the clothes for both my club team & my two favorite Spanish League teams(Real Madrid & Barcelona) as proudly as a soldier wears their uniform. Soccer is part of me and I'll never be done playing this game! I'm a hard worker both in a classroom and on a field. I think you'd hear just that from any teacher or coach who's worked with me. I lead easily on a team because my love of the game is always visible. Game day is my favorite day of the week! When I was young and all my friends were going to the "princess" birthday parties, I always chose my games over parties because that was always my first love. My close friends always planned around my games because they knew I'd choose my game. Those girls are still my closest friends and still joke that I now turn down my high school homecoming &/or prom if it interferes with game day, because I ALWAYS show up! I maintain high standards for myself in a classroom as much as on a field. I've been fortunate that academics have come easy to me. I currently hold a 3.99 GPA and one of seven students in my graduating class that are part of an Accelerated Graduation Program (AGO). I've taken a college class every summer, beginning the summer leading into my freshman year. In addition, my class schedule is made up of accelerated and AP classes. This fall I will be dual enrolled through UM-Flint where I will receive 13 additional college credits to add to my 3 other college classes that I've taken during the summers. These are some reasons I think I may be that better choice for your team. I not only ALWAYS show up, but you will get 125% of me at every practice and every game because soccer is part of what makes me who I am. I may be small, I may not weigh as much as most of the girls I've competed against. But... like my mom always told me, it's not the size of the dog that matters as much as the fight in the dog! I will always fight for the win of our team in my Poodle size body but with that Pit Bull fierceness! I've always been a threat on a field and I wouldn't have it any other way. That may just be the one thing that sets me over the top of the other girls you may be looking at for your team. I AM a future college athlete.
