Danielle Lonati '16 Recruiting Profile

I started playing soccer at five years old in a town recreational league. Originally, it was something to keep me active and occupied, but soon it turned into much more than that. As many of my peers decided not to pursue the sport, soccer was all I could talk about. It was in third grade, when I joined a club soccer team, that I became a goalkeeper, mainly because I was the only one brave enough. While the vast majority of kids wanted to score the goals, all I wanted was to prevent them. As club became more and more of a commitment, I became more serious about pursuing my career as a goalkeeper. It was after my first high school season, being the starting goalkeeper of the Massachusetts Division I State Champion team, that I realized high school soccer would not be enough. With such a strong passion and desire for soccer and goalkeeping, I am committed to being a successful college athlete. I love being on a team, working together with my teammates, pushing each other, and becoming like a family. There is nothing more thrilling than the energy and excitement I feel when I step on to a soccer field. I feel that I can bring this energy and on-field leadership to a college program. My athletic career is one of the most important things to me. Academically, I have the same drive that I do in athletics. I work very hard for my grades and have been a straight A student throughout all of high school. I take all Honors and Advanced Placement courses and will continue that for the rest of high school. I believe I can be a positive influence on any team that I join and I look forward to finding the best college team fit for me.
