Finishing up my sophomore year, my high school team ended its season on a good note of 18-4-0. I graduated from Left Back to Center Back continuing my starting status throughout the season. I was also honored with the awards of making All Conference, All Area, and honorable mention All Sectional Teams.
I still maintain the height of 5’4” and consistent weight of 130 lbs. On the field, I take advantage of anticipating the play and stepping in. Presently, I am working to improve my quickness, speed, and overall, upper body strength. I continue to play for Schaumburg FC while participating in college showcases such College Search Kickoff, Germantown Invite, and Ohio Elite. This summer I guested for Las Vegas Premier and participated in the PDA Showcase in New Jersey and ECNL National Championship in Waukegan, IL. I have witnessed firsthand how competitive and skillful teams and players have to be to compete at that level. I keep that in mind as a goal of where I see myself in the near future.
Over the past year, I have also visited almost a dozen colleges and gotten a taste of what it takes to be a college student athlete through meetings with the coaches and talking to the players. I plan on continuing the search for colleges this fall with DII/DIII schools being my primary interest because of three things:
1. School size. I like smaller schools because I love knowing people and having that family feel on campus.
2. Student/ Teacher Ratio. I know as an athlete in high school, soccer seems like everything. But I am firm believer in having great relationships with teachers and putting school first.
3. The Chance to play all 4 years. I am realistic with my skills and how far I can go. I try not to sell myself short but I also am not one to think highly of myself if it is not earned.
My GPA up to this point is 3.5 unweighted. I am proud to say that as incoming junior, I will be participating in Class Council, National Honor Society, and a mentor program for incoming for freshman called C.A.P. (Cougar Advisory Program). Knowing how difficult junior year will be, I will continue to work hard and build character with the thought of school being first and soccer being a very close second.
