Personal Statement
I am a 4 year starter at Grovetown High School and Captain of our Warrior Soccer Team.
Our soccer program at Grovetown High School, which opened in 2009, is rather new but has improved every year. As a freshmen and the only player that had club level experience, my coach allowed me to help lead the team, setting up drills and helping players improve on their skills. It was not an easy task considering I was a freshmen, the upperclassmen and captains were not always willing but I think that's where I consider myself different from other players. I am a leader and lead by example, but I want to be more than that. I want others to see that leadership is not about someone you just follow or directs you to do a task. I believe a leader is someone that gives you respect, encourages you, motivates you to be better, work hard and picks you up at your worst. I think every player on a team is an asset on the field and to the team. Whether you're a starter or a sub when it's your time to play you show up, motivate and show out! On a personal note, I have had three coaches so far and even though it's been tough, the challenge has made me a stronger player and more importantly a better leader for our team. Our coaches may have changed but we are still one team (Warriors) and in order to improve & win, we must play as one.
