2014 Highlights a...Personal Statement
Soccer has been a big part of my life since I was six, joining the competitive ranks when I was 13. I love the competitiveness of soccer and the fitness it brings to my life. Being a goalkeeper excites me because I can use my communication and leadership skills to be an anchor on the pitch, not to mention the athleticism, dedication and specialized skills it requires. My aspiration is to continue building my skills and success so I can play though college and one day play for the US National team.
Academics is very important to me. I am currently enrolled in a few AP courses and this fall had a teacher recommend I take their AP class this spring. The learning environment is very important to me and is the top priority when looking at colleges. Science is my strong suit and I love helping people and animals, so I am leaning toward studying biology or medical sciences.
Athletically, I continue my commitment to developing my soccer skills as well as my athleticism. This year I ran my first 1/2 marathon and LOVED it! My vertical jump increased to 22", the top female in my strength training group. I continue to train a minimum of 4 days a week and am enjoying every minute of it.
I am considering colleges nationwide that align with my goals, values and competitiveness. Ones that value hard work, intensity, dedication and most of all … FUN. Character of coaches, students and professors will play a large part in my college decision.
