Jenna Hansen '18 Recruiting Profile

My collegiate aspirations are to obtain a degree in sports medicine or athletic training. My lifelong participation in sports has helped me to be a better student by understanding that hard work and dedication can help you achieve what you set your mind to, if it's by improving your speed, acing a test or learning to overcome a fear and it has helped me have more confidence in myself. As an athlete, and Captain of my high school team, I believe I am a coachable player and a positive influence as shown in the many coach/player relationships I still maintain from my experience as an accomplished swimmer as well as soccer player. I have been told I am a natural leader, and I have taken this to heart by sharing this attribute and helping to coach younger players on the team and area youth soccer teams. My parents have taught me to have a good work ethic, be responsible, be a respectful teammate and put 100% effort into whatever I try.

I think what sets me apart academically is that besides maintaining good grades in advanced and honor classes, I am also enrolled in early college classes. I have taken 6 college classes through the University of Alabama early college program and getting this experience early on is teaching me how to be organized and get a taste of college academics to be better prepared. Most importantly, as an athlete at university, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the field, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects on my coaches, my teammates, my parents and ultimately the school that I will attend.
