My name is Lauren Cardenas, I play lacrosse for Battlefield High School as an attacker and midfielder. In addition to my high school team I also play on a travel team known as BattleLax. I have loved the sport of lacrosse since the 3rd grade when I decided to pick up a stick in Gambrills, Maryland and have been playing for 7 years in several different states and countries due to the fact that my dad is an Active Duty Soldier. Lacrosse for me has always been my outlet. At the age of 14 my intentions of continuing to play lacrosse on the east coast were briefly interrupted by a move to Germany. Throughout the 2 years spent outside of the US I tried to figure out a way to continue to play lacrosse. Fortunately, I found a successful women's club team in Frankfurt, Germany. The experience I gained from playing with older advanced players allowed me to adapt and learn from them to excel as a unique and more flexible player. Fitness programs like Next Level and PowerTrain have elevated my fitness level to a new high giving me more confidence and passion for the sport. Academically, I have sustained a 3.9 GPA and my goal now is to work harder to obtain a 4.0 and get accepted into the NHS program at my school. I am a humble team player that always looks for ways to contribute to the win column, I enjoy feeding the ball to my teammates as much, if not more than putting the ball into the net myself. On and off the field I have an innate sense for knowing when to lead and when to follow. This is definitely one of my biggest strengths and it gives me the confidence to know that I am ready to play lacrosse at the collegiate level.
