Personal Statement

My name is Abby Witmer. I am a sophomore at Battlefield High School and play on the varisity women's lacrosse team. I currently start as a defensive midfielder.
I love the game of lacrosse because it serves as an outlet for me when I just need space or to be with really great teammates. Lacrosse has helped me to learn that there will always be better and worse players than me, but that I still neeed to keep improving. Lacrosse has provided me with a sense of security, because I know all of my teammates have my back and I have theirs.
Another thing that is very important to me is having the right coaching staff. I want a coach that is willing to help me improve my skills , but also more importantly, I want my coach thinking about the team as a whole because lacrosse is a team sport. I do not want a coach that only focuses on the best player on the team or even the worst player on the team becuase then it is no longer a team sport. If the coach never focuses on the team as a whole then the team will never grow. Overall, there needs to be a good balance between the individual players and the team to make that team amazing.
Lastly, I would like to continue to play lacrosse in college becuase it will allow me to meet new people and it will serve as my family. I think family is also really important because everyone in a family must work together to achieve the goal, whether it is the lacrosse championship or just cleaning the house, everyone must work together.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
