I feel very fortunate to be able to be a student athlete. It is so much a part of who I am as a person. I have a younger brother that was born with some physical disabilities causing him to be unable to participate in most sports. He has had over 40 surgeries throughout the course of his 12 years. He loves sports more than anyone I know and would give anything to be able to participate. He is more knowledgeable about sports than most adults. I know his inability to play sports, motivates me to give everything during every play, every second, I am on the field or court.
My family and I have been by his side for every surgery and during every painful recovery he has had to go through. Watching him continue to go through this gives me an added motivation to always do my best to reach my goals. I want him to be as inspired by my success as a student athlete as I am by his fight, strength and unwillingness to ever give up. These are all traits that I carry with me during every athletic endeavor I participate in. I hope that I will be able to fulfill my dream of playing college lacrosse and make him as proud of me as I am of him.
