I discovered the sport of lacrosse when I was in 7th grade and it was completely unexpected. I had friends that played for the town and they talked me into trying it out. I was always the basketball girl and never in my life thought I could excel at anything else, but that is what life is all about isn't it? It's about taking chances that could change your entire life. That's what I believe this sport has done for me: it's changed my outlook on life and I never thought I would love a sport so much. I was the starting center position for my sophomore year of high school as well as midfield and I was not a force to be messed with. I enjoy being able to play all over the field because I can sprint for the lose balls and intercept passes and score goals. I am not set on playing midfield or being a center however. One thing I pride myself on is that I can play any position at anytime whenever my coach needs me. I'm valuable at any position on the field. I believe I'm a valuable asset on a collegiate team because I never stop working and I will never complain. If a coach tells me to do something I will do it. No questions asked. I also am a huge optimist and will always get my teammates pumped up and ready to play rather than criticize them and get them down on themselves. My high school team is not exactly highly ranked among teams but when people ask me how I can play for a losing team I tell them it's not about the wins or the losses. It's about playing your heart out and leaving everything you have on that field so when the final buzzer goes off you know that there's nothing else you could've possibly done. Winning isn't everything, and giving up and being negative about it is the real loss. In regards to academics, I am in the elite Honors Academy of only 30 or so student of the class of 2017. My GPA is a 3.7 out of 4.0 which qualified me for the National Honor Society which I was admitted into in January of 2016. I am the Historian of my high school's Student Council as well as a member of the School Improvement Council, Peer Leadership Club, and Friends of Rachel Club. I take a variety of AP classes and honors classes as well. I constantly keep myself busy but I do have time for myself when I'm not working my part time job on the weekends. I am a very well rounded student in addition to being a well rounded player.
