I have been playing lacrosse for the past four years. I love playing lacrosse for its competitive nature and personal relationships that I built over this time. Lacrosse has also provided me with several “soft skills,” such as leadership, strong work ethic, and communication skills. All of skills are not only a benefit on the lacrosse field, but are also needed to be a successful in the classroom and life after lacrosse.
On the lacrosse field, I communicate effectively to my teammates and focus on maintaining great body positioning while defending players. These qualities enabled me to be a starter on my high school team as a freshman and sophomore years and earning Academic All Conference honors each year. I am a very coachable player and work very hard to improve my skills. I always listen to advice from coaches and other players and take it as a positive way to improve my understanding of the game and my overall game.
In the classroom, I have maintained high honors during my first two years of high school, while taking various honors courses. I continue to challenge myself in the classroom as my junior class schedule consists of two advance placement classes (biology and world history) and honors classes for the remaining. I have been selected as a member of the Junior National Honor Society and will be applying for the National Honor Society during my junior year. As a condition of the Honor Societies, I am required to perform volunteer services, which I volunteer at the Delaware Food Bank and the Delaware SPCA.
I believe that college should be a rewarding experience. For me, this is accomplished by contributing on the lacrosse field, being challenged in the classroom, giving back to the community, and being involved in many of the clubs or organizations offered by the college. I am open to all college options, but would look for colleges that provide me with a rewarding experience.
