My name is Sarah Artzer and lax is life. I love everything about lacrosse and try everyday to put in 100% in order to get 100% out of every practice and game. I have 7 years of experience and lacrosse is just as fun as it was the very first time I played it. My favorite part about lacrosse is how my team becomes my family. I love being able to rely on my teammates and work hard together to reach our team goals and how everyone supports and loves one another. My sophomore year I made varsity at ThunderRidge High School and was a starter. At the end of the year I was named to the second all conference team and most improved player on my team. I take pride in those awards because I work extremely hard everyday to be better then I was the day before. That same year, we were conference champions! Winning the conference for the first time in TRHS history was the best part of the entire year! Junior year, I was named to the first all conference team and we were second in conference. We made it to the quarterfinals, the farthest the team has advanced in school history!
I also work extremely hard academically because I know that lacrosse can't go on forever. I currently have a 3.9/4.0 and just like I challenge myself on the lacrosse field, I challenge myself in the classroom. I was awarded first team all state academically during both the basketball and lacrosse seasons junior year. My hard work and passion in everything I do has in turn made me a better person and athlete. I also grew up playing basketball and is the reason I believe I am so competitive because from a very young age I learned that I hated losing and wanted to do everything I could to not feel the sting of losing. My junior year I was on the varsity basketball team and we lost the State Championship. That is my most hurtful and memorable loss and then two months later our lacrosse season ended in the quarterfinals and my heart was broken all over again. Another lesson I learned early on was sportsmanship. In the heat of competition it's hard to stay in control and respect your teammates and competition but I found that I enjoy playing more when I respect everyone playing the game. Lacrosse makes me happy everyday I play and can't wait to play in college! Live Love Lax :)
