When I started playing hockey at age five I was quiet, shy and roughly a foot shorter than everyone else on the ice. Playing hockey felt like a big risk for me, but within that first season I found new confidence and an identity that is still with me.
Being a hockey player has given me the courage to do things that I otherwise wouldn’t have. When I’m not on the ice, I’m volunteering with different community programs, discovering new music, or I’m out playing another sport like soccer, snowboarding, kiteboarding, or boxing.
Outside of hockey I strive for high academic success, and in my limited free time I get involved in as many extracurricular activities as possible. I’m looking for a school that attracts well-rounded students who are serious about learning, and has internships, mentoring relationships and other opportunities to explore my interests in economics, poli sci and international studies.
Throughout my hockey career I have learned how to take on a leadership role both on and off the ice. Being focused and determined while also being committed to making meaningful relationships with my teammates and coaches has allowed me to be successful. Highlights include receiving the Frank Black Best Forward award at the 2017 America's Showcase, and my 2015-16 U16 Capitols team making it to Nationals (eliminated in OT in the quarterfinals).
I hope to continue competing at a high level in college. I will be visiting schools in the Midwest early this summer and out east in late summer and fall.
