Personal Statement

I am going to attend a college or university with a reputation for academics and athletics. I have traveled from Minnesota to the east coast for the past 5 years playing in 15 tournaments with my off season team. I would love to attend a college or university in NY, MA, CT, VT, ME, NH, RI, or PA. My goal with my college team will be to do what it takes to win conference titles and national titles by listening to my coaches and teammates, being physically and mentally prepared for anything that comes our way. Midwest schools are not out of the question if it was a good fit. I am currently undecided in my course of study with a few areas I am interested in pursuing. I am a good candidate for your team because I have been and will continue to be a positive, trusted, role model in the locker room, in the weight room, in practice, in games, in the classroom, in the community. I was voted Assistant Captain in 2013-14 and Captain in 2014-15 by my high school team. In 2011-12 and 2012-13 my high school team appeared in the Minnesota State High School League Tournament, one of the best tournament settings in the country. On your team I will bring the experiences I learned leading my high school team, accepting my new role of listening and learning from all the coaches and teammates. I will also bring the experiences of working through and resolving hockey or life speed bumps that will also come along the way. In my field of study and campus life I will use my experiences from school and life here in Minnesota, on and off the ice lessons learned, working to be the best student I can be. I will be an extremely proud representative of my team and college. After graduation I will be a supporter of the school and hockey program. It is said that that past performance and behavior is the best predictor of future performance and behavior. I believe I have what your looking for as a student, athlete, teammate, school representative, and community member. I am excited to find the right fit for me in this process. Thank You for taking the time to learn more about me.

Sincerely,

Taylor Ramthun '15

  • Our MN Blades U19 Team is scheduled for the summer and fall of 2014 to play in the Beantown Classic, Stoney Creek, and Detroit 2 Nations at a minimum this year.
  • 2013 Minnesota Blades (AAA)
  • I have been with this team from 2009-2013. We have traveled to many different tournaments all over the country. As U14 in 2011 we were the North Star Yankee Jamboree Champions beating the U14 Mid-Fairfield Stars (2011 Tier 1 National Champions), the East Coast Wizards (2011 Tier 1 National Tournament participant), and Assabet Valley, (2011Tier 1 National Tournament Runner Up). We also traveled to Littleton Co. and went 3-1 winning that tournament also against Colorado teams and the St. Louis Jr. Blues. In 2012 and 2013 we entered the Beantown Classic, Stoney Creek, Detroit 2 Nations and Burlington. We also schedule local games in the area against Shattuck St. Marys, Madison Capitols, and a few other teams. I do not have stats or a record at this time. The MN Blades Coaches are Dave Dochniac (651-271-0493) and Kerry Kerrinan (651-238-0724).
  • 2013 MN Elite D (High School)
  • In the fall of 2013 I played in the MN High School Elite D League. Our high school sophomore's team placed 2nd in the tournament losing only to a Candadian team for the Championship. Our coaches varied but the main contact is Winny Brodt Brown at OS Hockey. No stats available.
  • 2012 Team MN (U16)
  • I traveled with Team MN to Boston to play in the Hockey Night in Boston Tournament. Our team went 4-1-1 and were tournament Champions beating New England Division Champions, Team ONE, for the Championship. The tournament article and roster can be read at (www.cadp.us) at the bottom of the webpage. The coach was Lenny Vanelli (651-398-5792) ([email protected]) and Laura Vanelli.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
