I started in the local learn to skate program with my brothers when I was 5 years old. I knew I loved the sport the first time I stepped on the ice. From mini-mites through highschool hockey, I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment that I have played. I hope that I can continue playing hockey competitively throughout college.
When I was a freshman at North Middlesex Regional High School there was not a girls ice hockey team. Although I had played hockey with boys through my Pee-Wee years, I did not want to play on the boy's highschool team, and I just played on a girl's team in the fall. Fortunately, during my sophomore year, my school joined a Co-op girl's team with Leominster High School (along with several other schools). Playing High School hockey has been one of the best experiences I have had, and I am so grateful for it!
I am a leader on and off the ice, helping to encourage all the girls on the team. This past year I was named Captain as a junior and can't wait for next season. After having lost three graduating defenseman last year, I was moved from forward to defense. It was the right thing for the team, and it was a relatively easy transition for me, as I play defense in my other sports (soccer and lacrosse). This move made a big impact on the team, and I was honored with our team's MVP award for the year.
In school I work extremely hard to maintain a high GPA. I am a top student and a leader in the classroom as well. Through this hard work I plan to attend the best college for me, and I hope to use athletics to help me achieve this goal.
