I am going to be a senior this year but I am young for my grade as I skipped a grade in elementary school.
My major is between Nursing or Occupational Therapy, I really enjoy working with special needs children. I have a special needs niece and I am on the board of Best Buddies at my school and participate in peer mentoring with the disabled.
I have a passion for golf, I love the competition but I also like the being part of a team. I enjoy practicing with my teammates and seeing everyone improve. My personality has always been someone that gets along with everyone. I even had an opposing team give me an award as their favorite opponent. I am focused on playing college golf and continuing to improve my game while I get my degree. I had a rough summer last year with some health issues that set me back, but this year I have worked hard and the results are just starting to show. I know my best golf is ahead of me.
I like being busy. I am used to balancing golf, school, dance and work. I do better when I am busy as it forces me to stay focused and organized.
My father is a PGA professional and owns a golf course, I have worked there since the age of 11. My dad has taught me to stop and analyze my swing if a shot does not go well. Golf is such a mental game, this year I have started using mindfulness to help with stress and also utilize visualization.
I know if you talk to my coach, Brandy Johnston, she will tell you that I am a good team mate and advocate for all. She named me to the school athletic counsel both junior and senior year and I am the team captain this year. I am a four year varsity player- follow me this high school season. We have a great chance to place very high at State and I know that I will play a big part in that.
