My name is Emmi Modahl and I am from Arlington, Washington. Golf has been a major part of my life since I was able to walk. My grandparents live on a golf course two hours away, and my brother and I would go visit them in the summer; it was there that I first learned about the wonderful game of golf. My brother, cousins and I participated in the Junior Golf program at Oakbrook Golf & Country Club, where I learned the fundamentals and rules of the game. Not only did I get to learn and play golf, but it was also a great way to spend time with my family. While in middle school, I started to play golf more and more, not just in the summer. I started improving my golf skills and lowering my scores. My freshmen year of high school, I was the number one golfer on my team and seventh in my league. Since then I have been working even harder to get better in order to fulfill my goal of playing competitive collegiate golf.
Not only do I work hard on the golf course, I work extremely hard in the classroom. I have earned a 4.0 GPA while taking advanced and AP courses. My favorite classes are math and science. In college I want to major in Pre-Med. During high school, I have learned some important skills that have prepared me for college, such as multitasking, prioritizing, and determination to succeed. Along with playing golf year round, I also play varsity basketball year round. I have to be very proactive with my time and make the most out of everything. This has helped me push myself every day so that I can be the best that I can be. By the time I graduate in 2016, my goals are to keep my perfect GPA and finish in the top fifteen at the State championship for golf.
