Personal Statement

To start, I play numerous sports including basketball, track, golf, and rodeo, but I have decided not to play basketball or run track this year to focus on my golf game. Therefore, I expect my scores to drop this season.

As a kid, I grew up with health problems that doctors said would cause me to not be able to participate in sports as a nine year-old. However, I recovered from those illnesses from countless hours of physical therapy, and proved to not only myself, but doctors, family, teachers, and friends who doubted me that I wouldn't recover. Anyways, I learned at a young age that being self-driven is one of the most important qualities an individual can have. Today, I am an extremely self-driven person who is healthy and a quick visual learner. I am also a very coachable athlete who would love the coaching that anyone is willing to offer to benefit my golf game.

I am excited about my future golf career and would love to have an amazing opportunity to play golf at college: an ultimate dream of mine. I'm a team-oriented, competitive, patient person who truly loves learning about the science behind golf, and I am looking forward to seeing what my future holds. I also expect to attend a college where I am pushed to excel on the golf course and in the classroom.

  • I played a few Jr. Greenbelt Golf Tournaments when I was 9 to 12 years old, but I never played serious till my freshman year. Then, the golf team needed another player to make a full team, so I joined. I only practiced for three weeks whenever we went to regionals in Levelland, Texas, and I advanced to the state tournament individually. Therefore, I went to state as a freshman with only a month of practicing. My Uncle Gary has taught me the basics to golf, and he continues to help me today.
  • Craig Ouelette
  • 1 year
  • Craig's a local golfer who has played on tour, and he has been helping me with my swing.
