Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Kendra Dalton and I really appreciate you taking a look at my profile. I started to golf in middle school, but I began taking it much more seriously as a high school freshman. My three years of competing on the varsity team, being selected as captain each year, making the All-Conference team and NC State Championship each year has continued to build a desire to compete at the collegiate level. I also put the same efforts into my school work (4.4 GPA) so that my grades will allow me to pursue collegiate golf wherever the best opportunity may arise. Helping lead our golf team to our school’s first athletic conference championship was a great experience and I want to be able compete at a higher level both individually and as a team. I enjoy being part of a team that has committed goals and then works hard to achieve those goals. I want to experience that at even a higher level of team effort and competition. Being competitive does not always mean having success and I am learning from the challenges I am facing. My first two state championships I was improving in my ranking, but this year I had a set back and as frustrating as that has been it has helped me more closely look at my game and see elements that need more focused improvement. I am working with my coach to build a plan that will take advantage of my desire to work hard on my game and to continue to improve. By not starting more serious competition until my freshman year that has limited the amount of tournaments I have played as compared to many of the other competitors so part of my plan is to compete in more good tournaments with stronger competition so that I can continue to improve not only my fundamental mechanics but also the mental approach as well as my approach to practice and tournament play. I would love to reach a high level of competition in university that would allow me to play all four years while attaining a great education. My goals do not end there but these are the goals I am most focused and I will continue to put in the work to achieve these goals.   I have competed on the varsity team all 3 years as well as qualifying for the NCHSAA State Championship each of those years. I was selected as the team captain for both my sophomore and junior years and this year I helped lead our team to the title of Cap8 Conference Champions. In my sophomore year I finished in the conference top 10 and this year moved up to finish third in the conference.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
