Personal Statement

Competition and practice are what my life revolves around. I am a three sport athlete and balance a 4.0 GPA on top of that. In the fall my volleyball team finished 3rd in our conference, and I earned All Conference as well as Academic All State Honors. Currently, my basketball team is ranked number one in the state of Michigan. Besides athletics, I am also involved in multiple school councils, committees and volunteer activities.

Now to my passion, Golf! I started playing golf my freshman year of high school. Because my school does not have a women’s team I play on the men’s. As a freshman I made the mens varsity team and earned myself a competing position, and I was hooked. From my freshmen year to sophomore year I shaved 16 strokes off of my game and plan to take even more off in my next two seasons. I believe that playing with the boys actually gives me an advantage over other high school girls. Hitting from the same tees as the men challenges my skills hitting between both the white and the blue tees. As a female, this pushes me harder and allows for stronger competition. Even with this disadvantage I hold my own against the men. As a sophomore, I was awarded All-Conference Honors, as well as receiving Northwest Conference recognition in the Integrity Award, given out to a single athlete in the whole conference who exemplifies character and integrity on and off the golf course.

My family consists of my parents and I also have four older brothers who have all attended or are currently attending college. Two of the four played college football, so I know what it takes to be a committed college athlete and balance both athletics and academics. I believe that I am a top candidate for collegiate golf. I am looking for a university that will allow me to continue to up the competition and my game on the course, while at the same time challenge my academic growth.
