My goals for golf at the collegiate level are to improve my game by playing at a level I have never played at before. I look forward to the new variations of courses in places I have never played before, for example, new types of grasses, layouts, and obstacles. I work outside of the season to improve my game with a swing coach, but the spring and fall seasons would help me develop a more regular practice regiment. I also want to be there for my team and play my best so that my team can excel. Among my possible careers I am considering is becoming a teacher and a high school golf coach. Being on a college golf team will expose me to a higher level of golf coaching and will prepare me for the job of becoming a coach.
I am unique in athletics because I have had dance training. Since I was three I’ve trained in ballet for a few years, and for the past several years I have been trained in tap. I am now in the highest level you can reach at my dance school. I have continued using my ballet training in Liturgical Dance at my church. This training has given me skills that others don’t have. Among those are flexibility, full body discipline, and grace. The discipline of dance and the muscle memory I’ve developed has helped with consistency in my swing, while allowing me to modify it as the situation requires on the course.
I am unique in academics because I am interested in and good at STEM. I have received awards in math and CAD. I plan to continue to study in these areas, focusing either in science or math. I typically do much better under pressure. My best grades have often come in trimesters when I have had many other extra-curricular activities.
I am light-hearted, not into a lot of drama. But I take seriously the obligation to call my own rule violations. I’ve had several opportunities to learn from my mistakes and had to call my own violations, even though no one would have known if I didn’t. I’m supportive of my teammates. I’m happy and celebrate when they do well, even as it spurs me on to work harder. I tend to be very quiet when I first meet people, but once I get to know them, my light-hearted nature comes out. I don’t take myself too seriously, but I know when to focus for myself and others.
