Personal Statement

~~My golf team is like my family.  While it might seem somewhat of a cliché’, my teammates are truly the friends with whom I bonded over long bus trips, celebrated personal best rounds and shared tears over miserable scores. They are my support group and my biggest motivators and true “fans”.   The golf girls “get me” and they are why this sport is near and dear to my heart.   Golf has taught me the most important life lessons and helped me grow into a strong independent and driven young woman.  As a freshman, I would be overcome with emotions after a bad tee shot or whiffed chip and I struggled to rebound, but golf has taught me to maintain my composure, realize that mistakes can easily be turned around and I can overcome against great odds.  This lesson and many others have translated into my academic, social and family life.  I read constantly about golf, the top players and their mental game and I realize that these skills will serve me for the rest of my life.
Some of the greatest attributes that I will personally bring to my college team are my dedication, leadership and good attitude.  Five days a week you can find me chipping at Starfire, taking a lesson with my coach Sandy LeBeau or enjoying the advantages of Merit Membership at Pinnacle Peak Country Club practicing my game.  On the golf team, I will be the one inspiring the team to practice chipping and creating fun competitions to better our short game.  I believe encouraging team mates waiting at the end of the round can be the only motivation to keep trudging through the next round.  My goal will be to organize team-bonding, provide a closer support system and have us work as a team to achieve great success.   Lastly, while I admit that my stubbornness and intensity on the golf course got in the way of my scoring in my earlier high school years, it has become a strength and I have grown to have a great attitude on life and how to take those bad holes, and turn them into motivation for myself and for the rest of my team.
The reason I want to play collegiate golf is to be part of a college family and to share a goal of working for the pride and reputation of our college.  I want to have instant friends who share my passion for the game, who fall asleep dreaming of that sweet “swish” as a tee shot is hit pure or a putt hits the cup.  Golf is about bonding with other people of strong character, dedication and passion and taking that code of ethic well past the lush fairways to be better citizens to change our communities.
I want to strive to better myself and learn from every shot.  I want to help my teammates become better at golf and better human beings.  Most of all, I want to add more to my family of golfers and friends I will have for life.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
