Personal Statement

My name is Janelle Shiffler.  I am currently a Junior at Union Grove High School and all I want to do is play ball.  You can find me on my own court or in the gym when I'm not at school.  I have lettered the past three seasons for Varsity Basketball and I have started for the team both my Sophomore and Junior Year seasons.   I was the second leading scorer on my high school team both of those years.

If you are looking for a highly motivated, self-disciplined, fully committed and highly enthusiastic basketball player, I'm a great fit.  I consider myself a team player and someone a coach can rely on in tough game situations, offensively or defensively.  Defensively I am always talking and making my teammates aware of happenings on the court.  I have a solid jump shot and have been increasing my skills in ball handling and 3 point shooting.  I have played positions 3, 4, & 5, and enjoy all three roles. I am an unselfish player, I like working with my team to develop a good scoring opportunity.  I provide encouragement and leadership to my teammates and respect for my coaches, as well as a superb work ethic.

I am very motivated in my schoolwork as well.  I maintain a high GPA even during basketball season.  I take pride in getting good grades and excelling in my courses.  I wish to major in Exercise Science and eventually go to grad school for Physical Therapy.  I really enjoy working out and helping others reach their full potential as well.

I would like to play for a team that is very family orientated and focuses on the improvement of players as much as winning games.  I want to play for someone who will push me to be my best on and off the court.  It is important to me that I play at a school where the community is united and is excited for the success of one another.  I think it's important to stress hard work and good morals.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
