I am a 6'2" guard/forward from St. George, Utah, who will graduate in 2014 from Desert Hills High School. This past high school season, I started for my high school team, which finished second in the state, losing on a last-second three-pointer.
I averaged about 7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block per game. I scored in double figures four times, including a state playoff game to help my team advance to the state tournament. My team had two prolific scorers on the all-state first team, but I was the overall leading rebounder in the Utah Class 3A state tournament.
While I started at the shooting forward, I also played power forward, center and even shooting guard at times depending on the lineup on the floor.
I believe I have the physical and mental toughness to play at the collegiate level. I suffered a bone chip in my left ankle in practice on New Year's Eve and played the entire second half of the season with the chip causing a considerable amount of pain. Every day required some rather interesting tape jobs by our trainer and then me wearing a brace besides just to allow me to practice and play.
This summer, I was selected to play on a combined club team of Utah Raiders with the Vegas Elite Club at the USA Premier Team Nationals July 6-8 in Louisville, Ky., the Elite Vegas Challenge July 10-12 in Las Vegas and the Elite Summer Showcase July 23-24 in Las Vegas.
I have a superior work ethic on the court and in the classroom. I’m often the last to leave the practice court, and my overall GPA of 3.76 thus far in courses that include honors English, medical anatomy and sports medicine shows my dedication to my studies.
My career goal is to be a physical therapist, so it’s important to me that the school I attend have a quality pre-physical therapy program or similar preparatory program for graduate school.
I would value the opportunity to continue my education while playing the sport that I love.
Thank you for your time.
