I am more than basketball and schoolwork. I am kind and caring. I love to read and sometimes I write poetry. I love people and laughing with my friends. When I meet someone and get to know them, I can see past their flaws and befriend them for the good inside. I love to eat, my family is Mexican American and my uncle makes some of the best food ever. I have so many pairs of shoes that I can’t even wear them all. My favorite shirt has no sleeves and I sleep in it all the time. My favorite course work is History but I am really good at math and science. My favorite teacher this year is my English teacher Mrs. Conner. She motivates me to read and write more often. There should be more inspiring teachers like her.
My family and I LOVE BASKETBALL! My father is a T.A.A.F Hall of Famer; my Aunt played Division 1 basketball at UTEP; my Mother played varsity basketball all four years during high school; and my uncle is an assistant Division III coach at Concordia University. I’ve often dreamed of playing college basketball and when my time playing is done I may coach. I have so many mentors it’s almost too many to name. I love my first basketball trainers Roy Green and Andrew Barba. I adore my high school coach at Stony Point, Danny Cage. I am what I am because of my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and most importantly my parents who have taught me the value of hard work and discipline. Without them and God I would amount to nothing!
I plan on being a great student at the university that I choose. I can and will balance athletics and academics wisely. I want to graduate with honors and will work to achieve all of these things because it is in my DNA to succeed.
