My name is Chloe Drum from Canyon Lake, Texas. I have grown up in a family of athletes and began playing basketball in 3rd Grade. I participated every year in our local basketball youth league and grew to love the game progressing through league teams and even played as the only girl on a boys team during 5th and 6th grade. I love to compete and have a burning desire to succeed and win at anything I pursue.
I believe that 3 distinct areas of personal development are important and essential to become a well- rounded and highly accomplished individual. I have focused my efforts in high school on these three areas and work diligently to constantly be improving my Physical, Academic and Leadership skills.
As an Athlete, I play for my Canyon High School team in New Braunfels, Texas and I consider myself to be a strong leader on the court with very good court awareness. I have excellent ball handling skills and can penetrate the defense in driving to the basket as well as scoring from the perimeter. I am also an unselfish player and have the ability to run the offense and distribute the ball effectively resulting in the leading number of assists per game on my team. I currently play the shooting guard/wing and point guard positions on my high school team. I have been a member of the Varsity team since I was a freshman and I have worked hard to improve my skills earning a starting guard position all 3 years. I received an Honorable Mention for Texas District 25 6A last year as a sophomore. and earned 2nd Team All-District Honors for the 2015-2016 Season. For the last three years I have also been a member of the Sophia Young Elite Travel team during the off-season.
As a student, I have a passion for learning and achieving. I currently have a 97% GPA. I was recognized for Academic All-District Honors my freshman and sophomore years. I will be taking my SAT in March. I believe my academic strengths lie in my ability to break down the workload and manage my time effectively. I prioritize my time to ensure that I am exceeding all of my personal goals and ensuring that I have the proper balance between my multiple goals. I am interested in an academic environment that is challenging and where my peers have similar ambitious goals. My interests are in science and I am looking to major in a science related field so that I may prepare for a post graduate medical degree.
As a leader, I am actively involved in helping to motivate my teammates both on and off the court. I lead by example by working as hard as I can in anything I set out to do. My belief is that leadership by example, especially among peers is one of the most important things that I can do. If I expect effort and dedication from my teammates and classmates, I must first ensure that I have done all that I can to be the best that I can be. I am also involved in service projects in my community and am actively involved in my church youth group in New Braunfels, Texas.
I am looking forward to having an opportunity to take all that I have learned to date as an athlete, leader and scholar so that I may apply these skills as a college student-athlete pursuing my dream of playing college basketball and earning my pre-medical degree.
