I am a seventeen year old senior in high school. Since I was little, I always wanted to help people, so I’ve came to the conclusion that for sure I want to major in either psychology or psychiatry. Since I am currently in the Texas Bioscience Institute, I’ll be graduating with my associates when I graduate from high school. I want to then continue and go into a four-year university and then into graduate school to get my PHD. I want to open up my own health or hospital facility and practices to everyone that is suffering from mental and physical disorders. I want to help change the world and make it into a better place. As I juggle the work load of TBI (Texas Bioscience Institute), dual enrollment courses at high school, I also am the starting point guard and captain of the Girls varsity basketball team at Ellison High School. Last year Ellison High School girls basketball made history. We ended the season with a 32-4 record. As of yet I have received the following awards: 1st-Team All district, Academic All District, Ellison's Newcomer of the year, and Ellison's Defensive player of the year.
I am a hard worker, tenacious, and coachable. My coaches have confidence in my ability defensively as well as offensively. I lead Ellison last year with 6 steals per game and averaged about 7 points per game. This year, we finished with a 25-8 overall record and an undefeated 14-0 district record. I was selected as the District 8-5A Offensive Player of the year, 1st team All District, 1st team All Area, All Area MVP, and Academic All State averaging 13.8 points a game, 3.5 steals, 3.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds. I am very aggressive and I handle stress and pressure really well. I love basketball with a passion and I never give up. No matter the circumstance, if we're losing or not, I always play with heart and fight till the end. I have been playing basketball for all my life; it’s a passion of mine. If I am not in a gym working out or training, then I am usually studying for exams and quizzes or doing homework. I also play AAU basketball, so I am usually gone almost every weekend, either out of city or state, competing in many different showcases and tournaments. My AAU team is called Sophia Young Elite Central Tx. In the Adidas Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia we placed in the top 30. We were ranked 54th in the nation. My dream is to sign to an university for basketball soon; hopefully, all the years of hard work and training will soon pay off.
Attending TBI and playing basketball will surely help me achieve my goals and dreams in life. I believe that if I stay positive, determined, and dedicated throughout all the obstacles I encounter in life, I will surely succeed. It is very stressful and taxing to be juggling all of this on my plate, but I know that If I can push myself and be able to maintain a 3.81 GPA while leading my team to victory, then I can handle anything I put my mind too. Most of all, as long as I believe and have faith in God, then I know that all will be well.
