At a young age, basketball became an integral part of my life. I was about six years old and in the kindergarten when my family moved from Waco Texas to Elgin Texas. As a new student in a new area, I had a little difficulty making friends, but putting a ball through a hoop is universal. Thus, my love for the game began.
Years passed, and my dedication and my skills exponentially grew. I experienced great success at every level of play, and at every position. Playing basketball has allowed me to establish life-long friendships and it is the source of my relentless, driven attitude. More importantly, it has made me understand that working hard, having passion and determination is essential in achieving true happiness.
I have learned that when you want something you must go and get it, it will not just fall in your hands. With everything that has been said I will always work for what l want and strive to be the best I can be as a player and a leader.
In today's society, a college education is an essential part of pursuing a career. While in college a person can determine his strengths and weaknesses in whatever path he decides to take in life. A college education is also the first step in being self-sufficient and living by yourself. College life also gives a person a chance to express his ingenious and creative abilities and to supplement the skills that he learned in high school. Attending college will give me an unprecedented opportunity to achieve these goals and to reach a new plateau in my academic studies.
