Hi! My name is Morgan Smith and I will graduate in 2017. I play point guard for my high school, Highland Park in Dallas, TX. I have a goal of playing Division I basketball in college. This has a dream of mine since I started playing in the 2nd grade. My strengths on the court are ball handling (especially when pressure is applied), seeing the court and distributing the ball to teammates, I play aggressive and strong defense, and attacking the basket. My team counts on me for leadership and encouragement.
Last year I was a finalist for Texas' Annual Christian Athlete of the Year and have been nominated this year as well. I have a strong work ethic and know spending time in the gym is what makes me a better player. I finished this semester with a 3.65 grade average and apply the same work ethic to academics that I do to basketball. I strive to be the best student athlete I can be.
I also play for a club team, The Hurricanes, and have been playing with them for six years. We have been to Prime Time Nationals, The Nike Invitational in Chicago and the Girl's Bayou Invitational in New Orleans. These were our biggest tournaments in the past few years. We also play in many regional tournaments throughout the summer and off season. We are planning on playing this summer in many more tournaments which have not yet been determined. I plan on spending my summer going to as many camps as possible and playing with the Hurricanes in tournaments.
