Hi I’m Marta Stangel, 18 years old, 5'8", and 150 pounds. I'm pretty fast, I won 5th in the 100 meter dash at state my freshman year in track. I love to play basketball even if it means having to run my guts out. If I could, I would play basketball all year. I plan on being an athletic trainer after college. I am also considering maybe being a coach. I'm open to most schools except private schools that are anything other than Christian or Catholic. I have two sisters in college right now, so I want to get most if not all of my schooling paid for with scholarships that I earn.
Every day at the end of practice I always get kicked out of the gym for being there to long. I’m a team player all the time and I constantly encourage the girls I play with. I always try to have fun with anything we do in practice and try to make it fun for everyone else. My freshman year, my sister and I were the point guards and I had to step up to the job even though I had no varsity experience. I'm a senior this year and a co-captain. I have started every game this year at point guard. My current season stats are on Maxpreps.com and my past years stats are on my profile. This year I broke my high school's girls varsity assist record for single season and career; my junior year I was short 3 assists of the single season record. This year, my senior year, I led the team in field goal precentage, assists, blocks, and rebounds. My sophomore and junior years, I led the team in almost every category.
I was unable to do track my sophomore year because of a stress fracture in my third metatarsal from basketball. I played on it all season without fully knowing what it was till track season started. I was asked to try out for the Oregon/Washington US Junior Nationals Team. I made the team, but was unable to make it to the national competition because of my healing stress fracture. Now it's all healed and it hasn’t hurt me since the start of my junior year. I hope to bring talent, skill, and the will to work to play no matter the occasion.
