When I started playing recreational basketball in 2nd grade, it was just something I did as a fun way to stay active. After I realized how much more I liked basketball over the other sports I was doing, I started to take it seriously. I put in countless hours over the off season and it paid off. Basketball has been one of my prime examples of hard work pays off. Without the extra time and effort, I wouldn't have even thought that I would be capable to play basketball at the college level.
I believe that basketball has taught me lessons that I would not have otherwise learned. It has taught me how to push myself and to learn from my mistakes without dwelling too much on them.
