The idea of winning not only depends on you but also depends on the person or thing you are competing against. The truth is that winning is not about performing better than others, rather than performing to your highest abilities. I have always set high standards for myself whether it is on the basketball court or in the classroom. From the first time I picked up a basketball, I never wanted to put it down. After making Varsity as an eighth-grader, I set the goal for myself to be a starter in my freshmen year. I put in the time and earned that spot, and won “Rookie of the Year” for Long Island. For the past 3 years, I was honored to become Varsity Captain, earning All-League Honors, All-Conference Honors, All-County Honors, and names one of the top Long Island player honors. Not only do I enjoy playing this game, but I also love pushing my teammates to be the best they can be. I have a sense of humor, but I am competitive and always want to win. I hope to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level at a place where I can push myself both in the classroom and on the court. I am looking for a college where I can share my heart and leadership skills.
