Throughout my high school years, I have been faced with challenges brought on by, my desire to accomplish the goals I’ve placed on myself. Although at times those challenges seemed insurmountable, I’ve always been able to accomplish my goals because I am motivated by “my Will to succeed!” One of my many goals was to play high school Varsity basketball for my local legendary coach Rachel Goodale. Coach Goodale made a reputation for herself over the years, with her ability to bring out the best in her players, while also building a successful top ranked program at Jackson Memorial HS. Faced with the challenge of competing for a spot on the team against several potential Division 1 bound basketball players, the odds of making the team at times seemed bleak!
I was self-motivated to not only make the team, but to eventually play a very important role in the continued success of this well-known, prestigious basketball program. It was during my sophomore year, I was quickly moved up to play varsity basketball. Coach Goodale credited most of my success to what she called, “my intense desire to want to get better!” I trained year round, from AAU, to working with a personal trainer. As a result of my hard work and dedication, I am now Captain of the Girls basketball team, with 2 state champions’ appearances, in which we’ve won a title!
This everlasting goal has also motivated me to maintain good grades, while also giving me the honor and joy of now training younger girls, who also have that quenchable desire to excel in the game of basketball. Now I am high school senior, taking honors classes, and completing my final basketball season at Jackson Memorial. I am motivated more than ever; to create and excel at new goals and dreams I’ve set for myself at the next level in my academics, and women’s basketball! My aspirations is to study Criminal Justice and Criminology. I have high hopes and dreams of one day dedicating my life to public service, and becoming the best crime scene investigator this country has ever known!
