My goal is to go to a school where I can learn and grow to reach my full potential as a student, athlete, and person. I am driven to push myself to be the best player I can be and it is exemplified in my commitment to this sport by participating in high school and AAU basketball. I am one of two sophomores that were asked to join my high school's Girl's Varsity team due to my positive attitude, overall performance, and hard work put into the sport. The team practices 6 days a week, where I work to perfect my technique, bond with my team, and get stronger as a player. I am also part of Team Miller Lightning which requires countless ours in the gym during the week and compete in tournaments across the tri-state area and even around the country. Basketball has taught me how to work with different players, how to think on my feet, and uphold my character in various situations. I also train with Grit Basketball twice a week, which focuses on attack first mentality and being aggressive no matter what. My love for this sport is undeniable. I started playing in first grade, started playing on my first AAU team in fifth grade, and have only continued to grow more as I have gotten older. Now I'm looking to take this passion of basketball and translate it into a college that will continue to help me advance my skills, provide a great education, and help me grow into the woman I want to be.
You can teach anybody to shoot a foul shot with enough practice, but you cannot teach the intangible skills that are so important to this game. I would define myself as a leader and team-player that is goal-oriented, driven, and extremely adaptable on and off the court. I have been actively involved in volunteering at my local church and I participated in Key Club in my first year of high school. A positive attitude is also something I pride myself on, as it allows me to make the most of situations and not let my emotions get the best of me. All in all, I want to take my life skills and basketball skills and develop them in a school that I feel is right for me so I can build off that and use it for the next phase of my career development.
