Grace Cannon '17 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5'10 SG/PG  about to begin my senior year at Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield New Jersey. I have been a varsity starter since my freshman year as well as my teams leading scorer.

Last season, my team went undefeated in our conference and won our conference championship. We lost in the championship game in The John Carty Holiday Tournament, in which I made the All Tournament Team and we fell short of our goals in the county  and  States tournaments. I believe we can build on our success from last season, learn from our disappointments and have an even better 2016-17.

On the personal level, I led my team in scoring averaging 16.9 and scoring 371 points. I was first on my team in free throws made (95) and 3 pointers made (35). I was second in  rebounds (101), assists (46), steals (31) and blocks (22).  I reached a milestone scoring my 1000th career point on February 23 and I was named to the All State All Juniors Team and the All State All Group 4 Team. For the third year in a row,  I was honored to make the first team All Super Essex Conference and first team All Area.  I think  overall it was a successful season but my ultimate goal is to win a state championship.

Since I was 7 years old growing up around basketball it has been my dream to play at the collegiate level. Now I am looking for a college that best fits me both academically and athletically.

Being a student athlete and my dedication to both the sport I love and my school work has taught me some valuable life lessons like time management, teamwork and the importance of hard work.

Basketball has also provided me with the opportunity to travel and build life long relationships that I wouldn't have made without basketball. By attending so many different camps and workouts I have made lots of new friends and been taught by terrific coaches who have all contributed to my development as a player and increased my love for the game.
