Christina Kollien '13 Recruiting Profile

Hello - my name is Christina and I am in the Class of 2013 at Alpena High School in Alpena MI. I have been playing Basketball since the 3rd grade and have always wanted to play at the college level. Alpena HS is a Class A school in Alpena and we compete in the Big North Conference along with teams from Traverse City, Petoskey, Gaylord, Cadillac and Ogemaw Heights. This past seasons I was named a team captain by my coach and also won the Team MVP Award. Other honors included 2nd Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-Area as selected by The Alpena News. I led my team in scoring, assists, steals and was third in rebounding while starting all but one game (Senior Night). I was also asked to guard the oppposing team's best player all while leading the team on offense as well. I am currently playing AAU Basketball with the Midland Fastbreak and we will be playing thru the month of July. My educational goal is to become an Elementary Education Teacher and Coach someday. I have had the oppurtunity to work in a First Grade classroom the past two years as a part of my Childhood Eduactation class in HS. This year I was also honored to recieve one of three "Student of the Year" awards in that class. I have a "highlight" video from my first seven games this past year posted on You Tube - search "Christina Kollien" or "Alpena Basketball" to find it. I can also send complete game tapes if you are interested. I also run the hurdles for my High School Track team and currently hold the school record in the 100 High Hurdles with a time of 14.89 seconds and have qualified for the Divsion 1 State Track Meet in the Hurdles for 2012.  Thank you for taking the time to "get to know me" and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
