My Name is Nakira Examond. I am entering my senior year this fall at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational High School. I try to do many things that set me apart from others. I am a hard worker in the classroom and on the court. I am a team player that not only tries to set an example for others, but also to have my teammates enjoy the experience of playing a sport. I have done volunteer for athletics I play for the Girls Varsity Basketball and Volleyball team.
Basketball and Volleyball are two of my main sports that I really enjoy playing. For volleyball this past season I was named a Standard-Times and SCC All-Star last season after getting 202 kills as an outside hitter. I also finished with a school-record of 68 blocks and recorded a career-high 24 kills in a regular-season win over Case High School.
I am 5' 10" and I play the forward position in basketball . This past season I averaged 18.0
points per game, 15.0 rebounds per game, and 3.0 blocks per game. I will enter
my senior season wit 1,051 career points. I was named a captain this past season
as a junior. I always try to improve my game one way or another.
I was chosen to be Standard Times player of the year and The Boston Herald's All-Scholastics for the 2013-2014
season. Last season as a sophomore I was chosen to be on The Standard Times
girls' basketball Super Team. I was also chosen to be on the Boys and Girls Club
Girls Basketball South Coast Conference All Star Team 2 years in a row. For the
last 3 years our girls' basketball team has played at the Boston TD Garden for
southcoast finals and semi-finals.
We also became the South Coast Conference
Co-Champions for the first time ever in our school's history, the Vocational
Large School State Champions, the Division 4 South Section State Champions, and
the Eastern Mass State finalist where we played at the TD Garden.
For my collegiate aspirations I would like to go to a college that offers a major in Legal Studies. I am interested in this major because I feel that the law, well-being and safety of others is important to our society today. I would like to have a career in law, and l feel as though l would excel in this because l have great people skills but if l feel as though something isn't right I'm not afraid to speak my mind in a professional manner. I would like a college that is a great fit for me and that would be like another home to me. Distance isn't too much of a factor for choosing a college for me. As long as I'm receiving a great education and if I could hopefully play a sport in college than that's all that matters.
