Jasmine Mutunga '12 Recruiting Profile

One of my most important accomplishments was that I made a nationally rank 16/17U AAU team in my state of Maryland. I was assigned the position of backup point guard. I credit my ball handling and court knowledge in assisting me to impress upon the coach my value to the team. As co-Captain of the Bel Air High School Girl Basketball Team, I add value to the team in the form of playing experience on the court. I feel my specialty is defense; personally I have always loved playing defense. I've always been taught defense wins game with some addition of offense. On defense I'm quick and use my speed as an advantage, I catch on quickly to plays and have a good sense of timing. I know, I can bring these skills to a college team and be of value to the team. Most importantly leadership, I'm direct and open when it comes to delivering message to the team and also I speak well on the court, make sure everyone can hear me. Being Captain, to me, is just name, I have always shown leadership, commitment, and drive being a Captain or not. When it comes to scoring i love to assist, i will find the open person or make someone open to get their shot off,but i can score when i want too and/or get the chance too. Whether if I'm one of the best or not player on the team I will still give it my all and show heart, do what I can do to help the team. I am open to any college I have no preference to the academic, divisional level, ect of the college, which accepts me as a player. For geographic regions i'd prefer East Coast Southern school, but i am open to school. Based upon GPA and SAT/ACT scores, that I yet haven't taken but I will in the spring, I will apply for academic scholarships or any other that may apply. My major will be in the field of Nursing, thus I will be focusing on attending those colleges who support that field of study. My goal is to exhibit my ball handling; court knowledge, intelligence and shooting skills, then show a continued pattern of growth and basketball intelligence as a freshman and grow into a seasoned knowledgeably and intelligent. Hope to be able to help the team in just some way but many ways and have value to the team.
