Tara Bishop '11 Recruiting Profile

I am 5'4" and a powerhouse on the court. I don't let my size dictate my accomplishments. So please don't have any misconceptions due to my height. I'm 135 pounds, fit and lean. My opponent usually under estimates my ability due to my size. I'm fast. I run track also and ran the 100 meter sprint in 12.5 seconds. I've competed at the state competitions every year of high school. On the court I'm quick both offensively and defensively. I've been told I have a quick first step. If I had to select my favorite part of the game it would be defense. I'm an aggressive and physical player. Being a team player and leader is very important to me. I not only challenge myself to do better but I encourage my team as well. I've been team Captain every year of High School and also on my AAU teams in Hawaii. I'm committed to excellence. I always give it my all and never give up. I practice hard and stay in the gym after practice. Basketball is my passion and it has been a long time dream of mine to play at the college level. I'm competitive and have a winning attitude. I have had many accomplishments I can say I'm proud of. I was first to receive Best Defensive Player of the year at Kapolei High School, Second All Area Team my sophomore and junior year, First All Area Team my freshman year, First All District Tournament Team my junior year, and MVP my freshman year, and in AAU I was MVP and best defensive player for 3 consecutive years. As far as locations of schools I'd like to attend it would be East Coast, South, Southeast or Southwest schools. I prefer urban or suburban locations, medium to big in size, not too small, with a high to average academic level. I'm pretty open. My major is undecided at this time but I am very interested in Criminal Forensics, sports management and history. My athletic goals are to play as a freshman, preferably at the highest level of competition and be a major contributor to my team.
